New Look Playground

You might have noticed that the school grounds look a little different. All of the poplar and evergreen trees have been cut down. They were getting very tall and posed a danger in the winter with the strong winds. A new fence has been erected and the basketball court has a new coating of tar. This will be marked out when all the tarmac has settled.

Proclamation day and Presentation to Johnny Brogan

We had a fantastic day celebrating Proclamation Day. All the children took part in a ceolchoirm followed by a presentation to Johnny Brogan who has retired as chairperson of the board of management. Johnny served for 40 years on the boards of Dalgin NS and Belmont NS. Ann Marie presented him with a plaque on behalf of the board of management and Ms Ruane made a presentation on behalf of the staff. Johnny raised the tri colour along with planting the time capsule in the school garden. We all had a great day and look forward to our holidays tomorrow.239 240 242 245 246 247 249 255 262 263 269 273 276 278 280 283 284 285 292 301 305 319 photo

National Flag delivered today

We had a very exciting morning today when the National flag was delivered to the school by members of the armed forces as part of the 1916 Commemorations. They presented the tricolour and a copy of the Proclamation to the school, which was accepted by Emily Hayden and Rhain Fahy. Amy Shally superbly read paragraph four from the Proclamation. They told us how to care for the flag and the history behind it. The children asked many questions and gave a fantastic rendition of Amhran na bhFiann . photo 1 (23) photo 2 (25) photo 3 (18) photo 4 (12)

Fire Safety

Two firemen from Tuam Fire Station called to the school last Monday to discuss the importance of being safe around fire especially with the Christmas season approaching. They spoke to the children in the junior room, middle room and senior rooms. The children in the middle  and senior rooms received a fire safety pack. photo (94)
