Proclamation day and Presentation to Johnny Brogan

We had a fantastic day celebrating Proclamation Day. All the children took part in a ceolchoirm followed by a presentation to Johnny Brogan who has retired as chairperson of the board of management. Johnny served for 40 years on the boards of Dalgin NS and Belmont NS. Ann Marie presented him with a plaque on behalf of the board of management and Ms Ruane made a presentation on behalf of the staff. Johnny raised the tri colour along with planting the time capsule in the school garden. We all had a great day and look forward to our holidays tomorrow.239 240 242 245 246 247 249 255 262 263 269 273 276 278 280 283 284 285 292 301 305 319 photo

1916 Commemoration

On Tuesday next, the 15th of March we will celebrate Proclamation Day along with every other school in the country. We will raise our national flag, the tricolour to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 rising. We will have some ceol, craic agus damhsa on the day starting at 2pm. We would love to see as many parents, grandparents and people from the wider community on the day.

We will also make a presentation to Johnny Brogan who is our outgoing chairperson of the board of management who has worked so closely with Belmont NS and Dalgin NS since 1975.

1916 Letters

These wonderful letters are on display in the Middle Room. Each child wrote a letter describing what life was like during the 1916 rising.photo 4
